Understand asset import AI assistance

Metra offers AI assistance only when predictable header detection remains ambiguous. The normal parser, mapping validation and final import do not depend on AI.

The request contains candidate headings, the source region name and a small sample of nearby value types. Sample cell values are replaced with type labels before the request is sent; headings and region names remain visible to the provider. It does not send the complete file or unrelated sheets and pages. The API key remains on the server. AI output is a suggestion: Metra validates its structure and you must review every proposed source table and field mapping.

Your deployment administrator configures IMPORT_OPENAI_MODEL and OPENAI_API_KEY on the backend for all import AI assistance, with no separate enable switch. If OpenAI is unavailable or returns an invalid proposal, continue with manual table selection and mapping. Do not upload material your organisation is not permitted to process through its configured AI service.
