Equipment deployment reference

Equipment identity is independent from placement. A newly registered item is unassigned until a deployment is created.

Deployment model

Each deployment records:

  • the organisation and equipment;
  • client, site, and location context;
  • the deployment start time;
  • an optional end time; and
  • the actor and history associated with the assignment.

At most one deployment is open at a time. Moving equipment closes the current deployment and creates a new one. Unassigning equipment closes the open deployment without deleting history.

Current placement

Current client, site, and location are derived from the open deployment. Equipment does not carry a second direct placement source of truth.

Historical evidence

Reports and dossiers use deployment overlap with the requested time range. Certificate evidence is stored against the calibration event, so later movement or unassignment does not prevent attaching or replacing the event certificate.
