Assign a decision rule

An exact approved decision-rule revision can be assigned to a requirement template, an equipment calibration requirement, a controlled procedure revision, or an applicable conformity-decision procedure step.

The controlled precedence is:

  1. Procedure-step revision.
  2. Procedure revision default.
  3. Calibration-requirement revision.
  4. No automatic decision when no rule is assigned.

The resolved revision is snapshotted for calibration work. A later rule revision does not change existing work.

A requirement template stores the selected exact revision and copies it into each independent equipment requirement created from that template. Later template or rule changes do not silently update requirements that already exist.

Use the applicable-rule resolution shown by Metra to confirm the effective revision before beginning work. The service resolves step, procedure, and requirement assignments in precedence order and returns no automatic rule when none applies.

Only approved, applicable revisions are selectable. Exact unit and tolerance compatibility is checked by the Metra; the browser does not convert units or choose a rule automatically.
