Data Import For Owner, Administrator

Import organisation structure

Choose Organisation structure when a source describes clients, sites or locations independently of equipment.

Use separate sheets named Customers (or Clients), Sites and Locations when the workbook does not contain a record-type column. Metra uses those exact, recognised sheet names to determine the record type, so you only need to map the identity and detail columns. An unfamiliar or mixed sheet must still map a source column to Record type, with each row containing customer, site or location.

Clients use a reference and name. Sites use a site code, name, optional client reference and an IANA timezone such as Europe/London. Locations use their site code, stable code, name and optional parent code.

Metra resolves parents before children and validates the complete import before creating anything. Cycles, missing parents, duplicate normalised identities, invalid timezones and cross-site paths are errors. Existing records are matched exactly; similar names are not fuzzy-merged.

Review every proposed create or exact match, then confirm the checksum-bound snapshot. A failed atomic run leaves the organisation structure unchanged.
