Configure report branding

Branding images use a short-lived secure upload and are independently checked and canonicalised before they become available to generated reports. Keep the page open through transfer progress and Verifying and saving; storage acceptance alone never makes a raw image usable as branding.

Report branding gives generated PDFs a consistent organisation identity without changing retained source evidence. The current organisation logo is applied automatically. Named seals, stamps, and watermarks are optional and selected explicitly while preparing a dossier. Controlled accreditation marks are applied only through an approved accreditation profile.

Before you begin

Open the intended organisation and select Organisation, then Report branding. Your effective permissions determine whether you can view, manage, or apply branding. The server always makes the final access decision.

Use only images your organisation is entitled to display. A descriptive internal mark such as Internal quality seal is appropriate for an internal workflow; do not upload a mark that implies accreditation or certification your organisation does not hold.

Prepare an image

The supported contract is:

RuleLimit
File typePNG or JPEG
File size5 MiB or less
Dimensions4096 by 4096 pixels or smaller

The page checks these limits before upload for quicker feedback. The Metra validates the file again and remains official. Metra does not mutate or resize the source image in the browser.

  1. Under Organisation logo, choose a PNG or JPEG.
  2. Review the local preview, filename, and dimensions.
  3. Select Upload logo.

There is one organisation logo. Its active revision is placed automatically in the fixed PDF header position. Archive it when generated reports should return to the standard unbranded header.

Add a named report mark

  1. Under Named report marks, enter a clear internal name.
  2. Choose Seal, Stamp, or Watermark.
  3. Choose the image and review its local preview.
  4. Select Add report mark.

Named marks do not apply automatically. During dossier preparation, select the active marks required for that report. Only generated PDFs are branded; retained uploads and other evidence files are not altered.

An accreditation mark must not be selected as an ordinary seal or stamp for a generated certificate. Link its exact asset revision to an approved accreditation profile so Metra can evaluate date, site, procedure, quantity, range, and scope eligibility before use.

Add a seal while creating an accreditation profile

You can upload a seal directly from Accreditation profiles while creating a profile. Under Accreditation mark / seal, choose an existing seal or upload a finished PNG or JPEG containing the laboratory number. Review the image and select Upload and select seal before creating the profile.

Choose New seal (revision 1) for new artwork, or a new version of an existing seal and enter a replacement reason. The profile records the selected image revision. Later replacements do not update that profile automatically. Uploading a seal does not approve the accreditation profile.

An uploaded seal remains available in Report branding if profile creation fails or is cancelled. Select it again when continuing; another upload is unnecessary. Existing seals require Report branding read permission; uploads and replacements require Report branding manage permission.

Replace or retire an image

Choose a replacement file, enter the required replacement reason, and select Upload replacement. Replacement creates a new fixed revision. Expand Replacement history to review every retained revision newest-first, including its filename, type, size, dimensions, checksum, uploader display name, upload time, and replacement reason.

Use Archive to remove an asset from new report selections. Use Restore to make an archived asset available again. Existing generated reports remain unchanged because the Metra freezes the exact branding revisions used by that report.

Understand placement and attribution

The page includes an illustrative placement preview. Generated PDFs use fixed positions:

  • The active organisation logo appears in the report header.
  • Explicitly selected named marks appear in their controlled report position.
  • A small Generated with Metra attribution appears in the footer.

Placement is controlled by the report renderer rather than by client-side image editing.

If an upload fails

  • Changed while editing: refresh the asset and review the latest revision before retrying.
  • Too large: choose an image no larger than 5 MiB.
  • Unsupported type: choose PNG or JPEG, not SVG or another image format.
  • Invalid dimensions or content: export a valid image no larger than 4096 by 4096 pixels.
  • Network error: keep the selected file in place and retry when the service is reachable.
