Use this guide when one approved method will be performed across several devices, such as sensors compared in the same bath. Prepare the controlled revision before selecting devices. The group execution guide explains how to run the session.
Each selected equipment requirement will have its own calibration event, readings, result, submission, independent approval and any required certificate. Share an operation only when it was actually performed for all participating devices.
Choose what is shared
- Open Calibration → Procedures and create a procedure or a new draft revision of an existing one.
- Under Ordered steps, enable Allow group execution.
- Choose Execution scope for every step. Keep the ordered step preview consistent with the method's actual sequence.
- Save a draft with at least one shared operation and one per-device operation.
Use Shared for applicable instructions, environmental conditions, stabilisation, reference-standard selection, controlled evidence, checklists or completion declarations. A shared checklist must name the actual checks. A shared declaration must state what the operator is acknowledging.
Keep inspections, device measurements, adjustments, calculations and conformity decisions Per-device. Device certificates also remain individual evidence. Choosing a shared reference standard creates separately assessed usage for each device; it does not make an unsuitable device eligible.
Link each comparison point
For a point entered through the group readings grid, configure one shared Stabilisation step followed by one per-device Measurement step. Enter the same stable Calibration point key (optional) on both steps. Although the field is optional for other work, it is required for these grouped measurement points.
For example, the point portion of a two-point method could be:
| Order | Step | Execution scope | Point key | Measurement nominal values |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Stabilise at the first point | Shared | zero | Not a measurement step |
| 2 | Record each sensor at the first point | Per-device | zero | One value: 0 |
| 3 | Stabilise at the second point | Shared | fifty | Not a measurement step |
| 4 | Record each sensor at the second point | Per-device | fifty | One value: 50 |
Set the quantity, unit, stage, stabilisation requirements and instructions to match the approved method. These example values are not acceptance limits or a calibration recommendation. Place required setup, reference and individual inspection steps in their correct positions around the points.
Each point key must identify one shared stabilisation and one later per-device measurement step; each measurement step defines exactly one nominal value. Give different points different keys. A duration-only shared stabilisation that is not a comparison point can omit the key.
At execution, the shared point records the actual setpoint and observed reference separately. Each device's error uses its linked observed reference. The next required shared operation waits until the earlier required device steps have recorded outcomes or the affected devices have been withdrawn with reasons. Do not design the sequence on the assumption that missing device work can be bypassed by moving the point selector.
Review and approve the method
Resolve the Pre-review checklist, save and choose Submit for review. A different authorised member must review the revision before approval. Check shared scope, device scope, ordering, point-key pairs, units, nominal values and all applicable evidence controls. See Review and approve a calibration procedure.
Changing shared scope, point keys or the method later requires another controlled draft and approval. It cannot rewrite an existing group's frozen procedure or evidence.
Prepare the requirements and session
Assign the same exact approved, effective group-enabled revision to every equipment requirement that will participate. Matching titles, method codes or template names are not enough when their pinned revisions differ. Activate the requirements and resolve equipment, assignment, site, active-work and personnel-authorisation blockers.
From Calibration work, or the relevant work order, choose Start group calibration. Select the compatible rows and use Check group eligibility before creating the session. Starting new groups also depends on the organisation's enabled rollout; an unavailable start action needs administrator attention, rather than a change to the approved method.
