Remove an unused draft from active work while retaining its reason and history.

Discard an unwanted draft

Use Discard draft when a saved draft is no longer needed, for example a duplicate, an abandoned setup or an incorrect first attempt. Opening a form and selecting Cancel only closes that form; it does not discard an existing saved record.

Discard a saved draft

  1. Open the draft's details or workspace in the correct organisation.
  2. Select Discard draft. The option is available only while the record is a draft and you have permission to manage that type of record.
  3. Enter a reason that explains why the draft is no longer needed. Avoid including passwords or unnecessary personal information.
  4. Select Discard draft to confirm, or Keep draft to leave it unchanged.

The action retains the draft and the reason in its history; it does not erase audit evidence. The discarded draft cannot be approved or used. An equipment record, requirement or template is archived; a calibration event or work order is cancelled. Controlled revisions are withdrawn or archived as appropriate for that workflow.

When discarding a newer controlled draft revision, the existing approved revision remains available. Discarding a draft does not withdraw an approved procedure, profile or other approved evidence. Linked records may prevent discarding a draft; the error explains what needs attention. Metra does not silently discard those dependencies.

If another person changes the record before you confirm, reload its latest details and review them before trying again. A failed request keeps your reason in the dialog so you can correct or retry it.

Approved, active, issued or completed records follow their existing retirement, supersession, cancellation or correction workflows. They cannot be discarded as drafts.
