Open Calibration → External providers. A provider is the organisation supplying calibration services. Keep it separate from the client receiving your work.
The organisation setup task External calibration providers links to this register when the operating model or existing external requirements make it relevant. Reviewing this setup task records coordination only; provider suitability, certificate approval and reference fitness remain separate controls. The reference profile also offers Prepare or review the structured provider within its current-certificate journey.
Add the provider name, actual contact information, accreditation details where evidenced and traceable evidence references. Saving creates an unreviewed identity revision. A different user with provider update and calibration approval permissions reviews suitability, records the assessment justification and may set a review due date.
Manage external providers opens in the same signed-in tab. Save your requirement changes before following it, then return to the requirement and select Refresh providers. A service error does not mean the register is empty. After a save, Metra verifies the returned revision in the provider list before confirming it. If the service accepted a revision but the list could not be verified, refresh before making another change; do not add a duplicate provider.
Select the provider explicitly on an external requirement or template. Activation and use require a suitable current assessment. An external method reference may be omitted when the reviewed provider and retained certificate/service provenance identify the work. Existing records with an external method reference can continue without a provider link. Metra does not guess provider identities from historic method text.
Changing identity requires a new assessment. Archived or rejected providers cannot authorise new work. Work retains its exact provider revision and completed evidence is preserved. An assessed provider does not automatically establish accredited scope or an SI traceability terminal.
