Understand uncertainty-budget revisions
Every uncertainty budget contains fixed revision identities. Requirements, procedure steps, events, and point calculations pin an exact revision ID and content hash so later policy changes cannot rewrite historical evidence.
Use Revision history to inspect earlier definitions and their status. The draft author can select Edit draft, correct the range, components or metadata, and save with a reason. Only the draft author can edit it so independent approval remains meaningful.
For a submitted revision, its author can Withdraw for correction and an independent reviewer can Reject for correction. A reason is required. These actions retain the reviewed definition; they do not erase it or reopen it for editing.
After rejection, withdrawal or approval, select Create replacement draft. This copies the selected definition into a new numbered revision under the same budget code. Explain the change, review all copied fields, and save. Only one draft or revision in review may exist for a budget at a time; finish or discard it before creating another.
Submit the corrected draft and obtain independent approval. Approval supersedes the previous approved revision and makes the replacement current in one transaction. Existing pinned requirements, procedure steps and saved calculations are not silently reassigned. Review affected configuration and select the new approved revision explicitly before new work.
A concurrent edit is rejected without overwriting saved changes. Your form remains available; copy any details you need, cancel editing and reload before applying them to the latest revision.
After completing, withdrawing or discarding open revisions, authorised members can Retire budget with a reason. Retirement removes it from new requirements, procedure selections and new uncertainty calculations; existing saved evidence remains readable. Retired budgets can then be Archived with a reason. Review dependent configuration before retirement. Neither action deletes history or silently changes pinned references.
Do not edit an old event to adopt a different budget. A saved evaluation retains the exact budget revision, definitions, source snapshots, observations, results, findings, acknowledgements, and hashes used at calculation time.
