Manage procedure revisions
Create a draft revision instead of editing approved content. Retain stable step intent where possible so reviewers can understand what changed.
- Open Calibration, Procedures, then the controlled procedure.
- Start the next draft revision from the current approved release.
- Record a meaningful change summary.
- Update and reorder steps as needed.
- Resolve the Pre-review checklist, including descriptions, step configuration, evidence controls, and reviewer independence.
- Submit the revision for independent approval.
- Use the Awaiting independent review hand-off to involve a different active member with procedure-approval permission, normally an Organisation Owner or Quality Manager. The author cannot approve their own revision.
- After approval and once the revision is effective, select Use this revision in a requirement when a requirement should adopt it.
- Review requirements that remain pinned to the superseded revision.
Approval makes an active, effective, unexpired revision selectable; it does not update pinned requirements automatically.
Withdrawal blocks new execution against that release. Existing in-progress work is flagged for controlled review rather than silently changed. Retirement prevents new assignment while preserving procedure and execution history. Archival is administrative and never deletes audit evidence.
Conflicts mean another user changed the draft. Metra preserves the visible input; refresh, compare and apply the change deliberately.
The procedure register shows descriptive revision titles and status summaries. Its search, lifecycle filter and selected page remain in the URL when you open a procedure and return.
