Calibration work

Calibration work starts with an active requirement, continues through a resumable calibration event, and ends with independent review. The event hub is read-only and sends you to focused task pages for each evidence step.

Before calibration

  1. Register the equipment.
  2. Assign it through a time-bounded deployment when it is installed at a client, site, or location.
  3. Create or assign a calibration requirement.
  4. Confirm the approved procedure, measurement policy, reference-standard policy, uncertainty budget, and decision rule for this requirement.

Calculated uncertainty needs structured measurements. Internal calibration, verification, and functional checks also need an approved procedure revision.

Guided calibration order

Metra shows your progress, blockers, warnings, and one recommended next action. The work plan presents the evidence areas in this order:

  1. Select reference standards.
  2. Start or resume the procedure.
  3. Record measurements.
  4. Calculate or record uncertainty.
  5. Calculate conformity.
  6. Complete the result summary.
  7. Upload an external certificate or prepare a generated certificate, according to the requirement route.
  8. Review readiness and submit.

Continue calibration still follows the Metra-recommended next action, which may differ from this visible order when prerequisites, saved progress, or required evidence dictate another task.

The event overview is for status and navigation, not editing. Use its links to open the dedicated procedure, standard, measurement, uncertainty, conformity, certificate, summary, and review pages.

Use Calibration work to find an event and open its Work plan. The work plan shows its status and links to each evidence task. Task-page breadcrumbs follow Calibration work → event work plan → current task; the equipment record is available through a separate contextual link.

The event section menu wraps on wider screens and becomes a section picker on mobile. The current section is identified in the menu. Use Work plan to return to the overview, or Return to procedure step when you opened evidence from a specific step.

Long-running work

Each completed step is saved immediately as a fixed execution revision. If you leave and return, Metra resumes at the first required step still open.

Submission and review

Readiness and submission use the same checks. A component is not complete if submission would reject the current evidence. Submitting freezes the exact evidence revisions and current external certificate version.

For generated certificate routes, approval also reserves the next number and saves the final issuance snapshot before PDF generation continues.

A different authorised person must perform independent approval. Failed or indeterminate approved work, including failed as-found evidence, retains its result and can open an out-of-tolerance investigation.

Equipment movement and certificates

Current placement is derived from the open equipment deployment. Historical reporting uses deployment overlap, so moving or unassigning equipment does not erase its site history. Certificate storage is tied to the calibration event, allowing upload or replacement after movement or unassignment.
