Calibration planning

Assign an uncertainty budget

Pin an exact approved budget revision to a requirement or procedure calculation step.

Assign an uncertainty budget

Choose the uncertainty policy on a calibration requirement or requirement template:

  • None records that calculated uncertainty is not required.
  • Optional permits calculated evidence.
  • Calculated required blocks submission until applicable points are complete.
  • Externally reported retains a supplier's reported uncertainty without claiming Metra calculated it.

For calculated work, select an exact approved budget revision. A procedure calculation step may explicitly select another revision; explicit procedure configuration takes precedence and conflicting assignments are rejected by the service.

The selected revision is frozen when the calibration event is created.

Under Externally reported, record the reported expanded uncertainty and coverage factor as structured measurement evidence. Metra retains those values as supplied evidence; it does not present them as a Metra calculation or manufacture a component budget for them.

The calculated_required policy also makes structured measurement evidence mandatory: record the measurement sets and points before calculating the applicable point-and-stage evaluations and submitting the event. optional permits calculation without making it a submission prerequisite. none does not request calculated evidence.

Next: Calculate measurement uncertainty.
